Album Review: "Rehab: The Overdose" by Lecrae

Release Date: January 11, 2011
Genre: Hip Hop
Rating: 4/5 Stars

Lecrae made a strong name of himself and of Christian Hip Hop when he released his hit album Rehab. The album proved to all doubters that Christian Hip Hop is not a genre to pass up on. Surprisingly, Lecrae released his following album just a few months afterwards and forms the Rehab series. The first question many will ask when seeing the Rehab: The Overdose album title is whether this album is just a collection of B-Side songs off Rehab. However, the album proves to be much more than that.

The opener and title check "Overdose" instantly gets the listener pumped up and is an introduction to the album, just as "Check In" was for Rehab. It mentions someone being on the overdose and needing to be checked into rehab. In the fierce tempoed "More," Lecrae sings to God that he wants

Bible Verse of the Week: Isaiah 7:14

(Jesselyn did not have as much time to work on this devotional, so sorry if it seems a little rushed.)

"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a Son, and will call Him Immanuel."-Isaiah 7:14
Unlike the glorious entrance that the people were anticipating, Christ came from very humble beginnings. Not only was Mary a virgin, she and Joseph, her betrothed, were not at all wealthy people. Such parentage causes a relationship between Him and us; if He had come as a fanfared King, we would not feel the connection to Him as our Brother and Friend. This should remind us that we do not have to try to be important or famous because our Savior certainly did not! Also, amid the festivites of Christmas Day, do not let yourselves get carried away into sin. Examine yourselves and ask for His purification after the celebration on that Holy night. ~Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Here Paul clearly stated the three instructions for us. First, always rejoicing does not mean that we cannot mourn for a time. Ecclesiastes states that there is a time to weep and mourn...but only a time. Indeed, the cheerful heart has a continual feast. (Prov. 15:15) The next instruction is to pray without ceasing which does not necessarily mean that we should be praying every second of our lives. However, if we cease praying all together, we will easily fall away from God. Thus, pray daily and continually. Lastly, we must continually give thanks unto Him. We have been given everlasting life; how can we not be thankful with each passing day of our lives? My preposition to you is to daily live God's will for you in Christ Jesus. -Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "Stranger in This Land" by Robert Pierre

Robert Pierre recently released his new music video for his song "Stranger in This Land" from his latest album I'm All In. This song talks about how we Christians are not of this world, and are "strangers" on the earth. Read my review on the album here, and enjoy the video!

Album Review: "The Great Awakening" by Leeland

If you read my last post, you will know that this album has been nominated for a Grammy award. Go here to find out which award it has been nominated for.

Release Date: September 20, 2011
Genre: Modern Worship/Rock/Pop
Rating: 4/5 Stars

The album begins with the upbeat title track “The Great Awakening.” The lyrics are from an anonymous poem that talked about spiritual revival. Jack Mooring was moved by reading it and shared it with his brother Leeland who immediately created a tune for the words. The song is only nine lines, my favorite ones being the first three that say, “One man wakes, awakens another/ Second one wakes his next door brother/ Three awake can rouse a town.” Following the first track is a song that sounds like it should be at the end of the album. “All Over The Earth” is an almost nine minute long song of praise to the Lord. It seems to drag on much longer than it has to and it is very surprising to hear this song so early in the album. “Chains Hit The Ground” is a reminder to Christians that whenever they are experiencing suffering, Jesus suffered for us. He knows how it feels, and whatever may happen to us, we can find hope in the fact that He took our sins for us and we have salvation.

“I Can See Your Love” has a great theme and an upbeat tune. The idea of the song came from Leeland’s trip from Japan to Cambodia. The two countries had vastly different economies, one rich and the other very poor. Despite this difference, the band knew that God’s love was still present and

Song/Video of the Week: "Dark Horses" by Switchfoot

Bible Verse of the Week: Ezra 8:22b

"'The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to Him, but His great anger is against all who forsake Him.'" -Ezra 8:22b
We are constantly guarded by the sword and shield of our Lord. However, many believers do not express a holy jealousy for God's invisible protection by rather seeking constant aid from man. Why should we hastily run to man for assistance if the Lord is our implicit reliance? It is true that we are here for each other, but many overuse man's help resulting in belief in man instead of God. We should wait upon the Lord only. Do not dishonor God's Name by forsaking Him, but glorify It by always looking to Him. ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "One Silent Night" by FFH

Release Date: October 11, 2011
Genre: Christmas
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

After thirteen projects, seven No. 1 singles, and over two million albums sold, FFH (Far From Home) releases their first Christmas album! Released on October 11 of this year, One Silent Night features Christmas classics as well as originals. I was given the opportunity to review this album which I promptly agreed to, and I must say that I am very glad I did.

The album opens with the classic song "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Jennifer taking lead vocals and Jeromy providing backup vocals, both of which mix together well in the entire album. The song really displays the great love between the two and has a great swing tune. Following it is another Christmas classic, "Jingle Bell Rock." Though this song never sounds as good as the original when covered, I still found FFH's version to sound great!

"One Silent Night" is the first original on the album as well as the first "Christian Christmas song." It

Bible Verse of the Week: Colossians 4:2

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." -Colossians 4:2
There are so many pages of the subject of prayer in the Bible. These pages show the importance and necessity of prayer. Whatever stands out in God's Word is intended to be observable in our lives. He has repeatedly spoken about prayer because He knows that we have great need of it. Our necessities are so great that we must never stop praying while we are on earth. Prayer is the watchward, comfort, strength, and honor of Christians. As children of God, we must seek our Father and live in His love. We must daily pray that we will be holy, grow closer to Him, shine to others, and live in obedience to Him. And pray that you will never forget to devote yourselves to prayer. -Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: 1 Chronicles 5:22a

"Many others fell slain, because the battle was God's." -1 Chronicles 5:22a
This is one of my favorite verses in 1 Chronicles because it is a reminder that we are fighting under the Lord's banner. If the battle is God's, defeat is impossible. In Biblical wars, the leaders cried out to God during battle, and He answered each prayer because they trusted in Him. He always delivers us, so we need not trust in our own weapons. When the battle is God's, we must rest full confidence in the Lord, for He is our sword and shield. Defeat in spiritual battles of sin should not be feared either. We should never faint, flee, shrink, nor flinch in the face of evil for the battle is God's! ~Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: Philippians 3:8a

"What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things." -Philippians 3:8a
Spiritual knowledge of Christ must be personal knowledge of Him. We must know Christ ourselves, not through another or through visionaries, but as the Word reveals Him to us. We must know His natures, attributes, works, and glory, to name a few, and meditate upon Him. In order to know Him, we must love Him and commit to Him. Knowledge of Him will be a satisfying knowledge that fills to the brim. Also, the knowledge of Him will be an exciting knowledge that constantly seeks to know more of Him. Knowledge of Him will be so happy that it upholds and strengthens when during the many trials faced. I encourage you to deepen your knowledge of Jesus Christ and grow in your relationship with Him today, for He has given me satisfaction, excitement, and happiness. -Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: 2 Kings 6:6

"Elisha cut a stick and threw it (in the water), and made the iron float." -2 Kings 6:6
For things impossible with man are possible with God. When called upon to work exceeding our strength, it appears difficult and absurd. Yet when we are faced with challenging situations, our faith rises causing us to do what we think we cannot do through Christ. Under any trouble, our faith leads us to the unfailing Helper Jesus Christ in whom we always receive aid. Whatever your desperate situation, bring the heavy matter to God. He lives, and lives to help His people. He will not allow us to lack any good thing. Approaching Him to beg for help, you will see God working marvels for the believers. According to your faith will it be done to you, and you may, indeed, see the iron float. ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "The Love In Between" by Matt Maher

Genre: Worship/Pop
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Matt Maher is famous for his worship songs “Your Grace Is Enough” and “Christ Is Risen.” He has also co-written songs with other big-name artists such as Chris Tomlin in “I Will Rise.” In his third studio album with Essential Records, Matt uses a pop music genre, similar to that of his 2010 hit single “Hold Us Together” from Alive Again, in many of his songs. However, some of his songs still retain the worship music that he is known for. This is obviously a new feature in Maher’s career, and it poses the question of whether it will improve or worsen his music. The question was easily answered for me as I found his new album to be quite a success.

The record begins with “Rise Up,” an upbeat song of encouragement. Matt sings that when we are feeling down we need to “rise up” and realize the love that God is showering down on us, saying in the chorus, “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the love that’s here and now.” Coming second on the album is the first radio single “Turn Around” which contains very a similar feel as “Hold Us Together.” It is a really fun song that encourages everyone who is experiencing hardships in life to

Bible Verse of the Week: Ephesians 6:18a

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests." -Ephesians 6:18a
We have prayed numerous times ever since we have learned how to pray. We pray for God's mercy, for grace, for renewed faith, for deliverance of temptation, and for aid. We constantly ask Him for everything in our lives, and He hears our infinite supplications. Our soul feeds on the bread and water of Christ Jesus whom we depend upon daily. Our wants and prayers are innumerable, and His supplies and mercies are countless. As our prayers are many, so are His answers to them. He has heard, strengthened, and helped us in times of trouble even when we have contantly sinned against Him. Remember this that God has graciously heard our prayers every time, and, hopefully, it will fill you will gratitude towards Him. -Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: Deuteronomy 7:15a

"The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases."-Deuteronomy 7:15a
This is a personal favorite of mine from Deuteronomy. God made a promise that He will remove any sickness from those who pay attention to His laws and follow them. This verse has been a constant testimony for me and my family throughout my entire life. God is loving and miraclously heals us when we believe that He will. Those who obey His Word will not be fatally diseased UNLESS it is God's Will that it be so. But even so, He will uphold the sufferer that he may experience the grace of God. The Lord swore this oath to His people, and He always fulfilled and still fillfuls it. I encourage you to ask of Him in faith, for it is promised that He will heal you. -Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "Slumber" by NEEDTOBREATHE

NEEDTOBREATHE is releasing their new album The Reckoning tomorrow! So, this week's song/video is their recent music video for the single "Slumber" which will be on the new album! The video is very interesting and goes very well with the song. It features man be "in a slumber" due to his boring job, and the lamb stuffed animal represents Jesus waking him from that slumber. The man then reaches out to his coworker to wake from her slumber as well. Not only is the message in the song good, but the tune is enjoyable as well!

Bible Verse of the Week: Galations 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me." -Galatians 2:20
Paul trusted in Christ's crucifixion of putting an end to his old sinful life. When he received Christ, he was dead to this world yet alive to God. Crucified with Christ, and yet risen with Christ in the newness of life! Next, God first gave us life because life is essential for us to partake in spiritual matters on earth. Our union with Christ is what causes our faith to become greater. With faith, we know God's excellence and cling to Him. Those who have such faith that is never wavered are blessed with God's strength. Giving up the old life to acquiring such faith in Him is a wonderful depiction of the Christian life. -Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: 1 Kings 18:43b

"Seven times Elijah said, 'Go back.'" -1 Kings 18:43b
Success is certain when the Lord has promised it. Although it may seem that God is not answering, it is not possible for Him to be deaf to our matters. Seven times Elijah's servant returned to report that the rain cloud God had promised had not yet appeared, but Elijah replied seven times to go back and look again. We must hold to our faith seven times seventy and never think of disbelieving. Faith is humble and pleads fervently upon God again and again. Believing souls become submissive and find it good to wait for and upon God. Elijah's believing prayer was fulfilled and so shall ours be. Ask with faith, and it shall be given to you. ~Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "I'll Wait For You" by Michael W. Smith

New music video for Michael W. Smith's song "I'll Wait For You" from his latest album Wonder! Smith is a legend of Contemporary Christian Music and is famous for all his songs, many of which are sung in churches all over the world! This video is shot in black and white in Nashville, TN, and the video itself corresponds with the song very well. "I'll Wait For You" talks about waiting for God's help and having faith that He will aid us, even when things seem at their worst.

Bible Verse of the Week: Romans 5:6-8

"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:6-8
Still powerless...that is such a good depiction of us. We are powerless to go to Heaven. We can do nothing to be saved. At the Lord's perfect timing for us, Christ died so that we can live eternally. As stated, no one would lay down his life for another man. I believe that a spouse, sibling, or best friend will only go so far for anyone. Test this by asking yourself if you would die, truly die, for someone you love. No one on earth can ever love another as much as God loves him. Christ did the unthinkable to be CRUCIFIED for everyone. God showed us that He loves us so much that He would send His Son to do that for us sinners. I am so grateful to God for sending Jesus to do such a thing for me of which I can never repay. ~Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "The Light In Me" by Brandon Heath

If you listne to Christian music radio, you probably have heard Brandon Heath's single "The Light In Me." The song talks about God lighting a flame in our hearts, changing us from what we were before. The featured music video on this post takes a while to understand how it connects with the song. However, it finishes with a really nice ending, and Brandon Heath's voice makes the song great to listen to!

Bible Verse of the Week: 2 Samuel 5:23

"So David inquired of the LORD, and He answered, "Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam trees."-2 Samuel 5:23
This verse was right after a previous battle with the Philistines which David had won by the help of God. He did not feel arrogant or triumphant to fight the second battle without inquiring of the Lord. He did not venture upon his own strength. Instead, he waited until God told him with clear instruction what to do. We need to learn not to make a step without God's sign. We can avoid so many bumps in our lives if we seek the Lord before making any moves. We must pay attention to God leading us; if He is silent, wait until He speaks. Those who move without God would later rather have waited for His instruction. Let us act as David did and not make any big move without first inquiring of the Lord. ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "This Is What We Believe" by Aaron Shust

Genre: Worship/Adult Contemporary
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

While writing songs for the new album, Aaron Shust was going through struggling times in his personal life. His two-year-old son Nicky was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis, a rare condition that caused Nicky to be unable to take in nutrition. The Shust family was informed that Nicky would have to be on steroids for the rest of his life. This fact made them very uncomfortable, for they knew that those steroids could have some bad side effects. However, later tests on Nicky suddenly came back normal and showed that Nicky no longer had any problems and, in fact, seemed to have never had any at all! The Shusts had experienced a miracle, and the event had taught Aaron to put his trust in the Lord. Quite appropriately, This is What We Believe features many songs about God’s love towards His children as well as the hit single that reflects what Aaron had to go through during tough times.

The album begins with the title track “This is What We Believe” which is a worship song with the declaration that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who “takes away the sins of the world.” Aaron Shust uses the verses to praise the Lord and sing of His majesty. Following the title track is the first single off the album, “My Hope is in You,” written by April Geesbreght. It begins with a piano intro

Song/Video of the Week: "Someone Worth Dying For" by MIKESCHAIR

This week's song/video is a very encouraging song from MIKESCHAIR. It begins by asking the question that some people may find themselves asking as well. Am I someone worth dying for? The answer, of course, is "Yes!" I find this song to be one that many people can relate to, especially due to the lyrics in the first verse. The first single off the new record A Beautiful Life, its music video has already been released which I am sharing to you via Klove's youtube channel. Check it out and let me know what you think of both the song and the video!

Bible Verse of the Week: Corinthians 4:18a

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen."-2 Corinthians 4:18a
During our Spiritual journey, we are mostly looking forward to that Glorious Day. Looking into the  future, the faithful eye can see pain and fears taken away, sin and death destroyed, and the soul made pure and perfect. Even grander is the sight of the Celestial City with golden streets, bejeweled gates, and joyful praises sang by all unto the King. Does not the thought of this future relieve all fears and doubts? Life is short; eternity is forever. Death of the body is so brief; the eternity of the soul is so long! It is a beautiful thought, so it can be surprising to find other people who do not believe. Heaven is indeed something unseen, and it requires faith for one to believe that one day we will all be there. Therefore, keep the faith, and fix your eyes on what we cannot see! ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "On Fire" by Peter Furler

Release Date: June 21, 2011
Genre: Pop/Rock/Worship
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Peter Furler shocked us all in 2009 when he announced his departure from Newsboys, after leading the band for 24 years since its formation in 1985. With a songwriter/singer of his talent, it is not surprising that he has returned to the music industry in a solo career. For many, it was like the return of the old newsboys-joining back with Sparrow Records and teaming up with Steve Taylor once again for songwriting. However, a question also came up: would Peter Furler be as successful as he was when he was still with the Newsboys? By listening to this album, the question is answered easily.

The new record begins with the upbeat song "I'm Alive." It talks about getting excited and feeling free now that God is in us. The first single "Reach" is the second track on the album and is a very encouraging song about God's great love for us. Though there are so many people in this world, He still cares about each and every one of us, as said in the chorus, "So many people in this world/But I hear You calling out my name." One of my favorite songs on the album follows "Reach." "Glory to the King" was written after the funeral of Peter's grandmother, and it speaks of the day when we will

Song of the Month: "Strong Enough" by Matthew West

This just might be my favorite song from Matthew West and is currently one of my favorites to hear on the radio. The music video was made about the recent tornadoes that had blown through the country and had destroyed so many houses and towns. Matthew gives a word of encouragement at the beginning of the video and durin the actual song, pictures and videos are shown of the wreckage and of workers helping in the cleanup.

Song/Video of the Week: "Make a Move" by Royal Tailor

Big thanks to Jay from Jay's Musik Blog for suggesting this song for me to use as this week's song/video! He describes it as a "techno/disco track that provokes dancing." And he is right about that. This is a really catchy song that I'm sure you will enjoy listening to!

Bible Verse of the Week: 2 Chronicles 7:14

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
-2 Chronicles 7:14
God is merciful and forgiving. However, here is the boundary of that forgiveness: If wrongdoing is committed, it will not be forgiven until the wrongdoer humbles himself enough to repent to the Lord directly and turn from his sin. Prayer is a sign of humbleness unto the Lord. If one cannot even pray to God for forgiveness, he should not expect any! At the same time, here is God's promise that we will truly
receive forgiveness when we seek repentance with humility.~Jesselyn

Bible Verse of the Week: 1 Corinthians 10:23

"'Everything is permissible'-but not everything is beneficial. 'Everything is permissible'-but not everything is constructive." 1 Corinthians 10:23
It is clearly stated here that everything is permitted. We are given permission to do anything we want. However, not everything is profitable. While many actions are lawful, how many of those things have good outcomes? People do so many things, but so many of them end regretfully. God grants us the permission and the ability to do whatever is pleasing to us, but He also makes it clear that a lot of pleasurable things are unedifying. As Christians, the Bible gives us discernment to know what is right and wrong. Therefore, we should guard our actions. Just because so many things are here for us to do, that does not mean that we have do to all of them! We should be using the Bible as a reference for our actions.~Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "The Sound (John M. Perkins' Blues)" by Switchfoot

"The Sound" is one of Switchfoot's most successful singles off the Hello Hurricane record in 2009. The song was inspired by John M. Perkins, an activist for Civil Rights. A clip of Perkins is shown in the beginning of the music video before the video switches to the band performing the song. This was my favorite rock song from Hello Hurricane and hit number #1 on many radio charts.

Bible Verse of the Week: Judges 2:1b

"I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land that I swore to give to your forefathers. I said, 'I will never break my covenant with you.'" Judges 2:1b
The statement "I will never break my covenant with you" has such a reassurance. It was, and is, God's promise to NEVER break any covenant. God had sworn to the Israelites and kept His promise although it was years afterwards. It is so securing to know that God will never break a promise. What a privilege it is to actually have the Lord say such a declaration! What a peace it is to know that everything that the Lord says and promises will be fulfilled! It lets us know that we can rely on Him, and being able to rely on God greatly strengthens our trust in Him. Man does not always keep his promise, but the Lord's promise will stay true forever! ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "I'm All In" by Robert Pierre

I'm All In by Robert Pierre | CD Reviews And Information | NewReleaseTuesday.com
Genre: Pop/Worship
Rating: 4/5 Stars

I will admit that I am new to Robert Pierre's music. The first "album" I heard by him was the Robert Pierre EP I reviewed for this blog earlier this year. Though I have not heard much of Robert Pierre's music, many of my friends have, and said some great things about him. This made me very interested in hearing his music, and after learning more about him, I was surprised at how successful this 18-year-old man already was. He leads worship on Sunday mornings for his 800-member church in Orlando, Florida, and only just graduated from High School last May!! Robert Pierre has already released two full albums and will release a new album I'm All In on July 26th, which I shall now give you my take on.

I'm All In kicks off with the title track, an upbeat song about God being the peace, joy, and love inside us. Pierre sings that he wants to be "all in" with God and says that the Lord's love is "overwhelming." The following track "Who R U" is very guitar-driven and demands the answer to the question "Who are you?": are you on God's side or not? "Are you standing on the truth when opposition stand against you?"

"Light the Way" is a slower, more worshipful, tune that is very encouraging and reminds Christian that when we are going through trying times, God is always there to help us. The chorus contains

Song/Video of the Week: "My Hope is in You" by Aaron Shust

Aaron Shust's latest single "My Hope is in You" was June's Song of the Month on this blog. Now, after the release of the official music video, it is no surprise that it is this week's song/video! The video features Aaron playing the piano while singing and also includes an interesting, but rather tough, story plot.

Free Music: "Faster and Louder" by Peter Furler

On FireIf you have not heard Peter Furler's debut solo album, you don't know what you are missing! I just got my copy a couple weeks ago, and it is amazing! Peter, former lead singer/songwriter for the Newsboys, has not lost his touch in songwriting and singing. His songs have great lyrics and great tunes. I am working on an album review for his latest project right now (hopefully I'll finish it by early August), but for now, you can get one of his songs for free from iTickets.com! First, you must register (for free) here, and then go to the downloads page to get "Faster and Louder" for free! Hurry! This offer ends on Tuesday!

Bible Verse of the Week: Romans 8:30b

"Those He predestined, He also called." Romans 8:30b
How could anyone lean on his own understanding after Christ is the One Who granted us salvation? First of all, we are called to Holy life. Jesus said that we must be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. If we are indeed called and live in sin, we can fully rely on God to help rid us of the sin. We need to strive for the prize for which God has called us heavenward through Christ Jesus. Is this truly the ultimate prize that one would want to win above all else? Only God can give the wonderful Heavenly calling. We, as Christians, have received that calling as all of His people have received it. I would not trade that calling for anything, and I pray that no Christian would. So let us remember that calling; and let us also live like we have it, for we do. ~Jesselyn

Album Review: "10,000 Reasons" by Matt Redman

Genre: Worship/Live
Rating: 4/5 Stars

Matt Redman is known worldwide for the significant impact he has made in modern worship. The songs he has written, which include “Blessed Be Your Name” and “You Never Let Go,” are sung in most churches around the world. His most recent songs include “Our God,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award, and he is a co-founder of the Passion City Church. Redman returned from his home in the UK to Atlanta, Georgia to record his live album 10,000 Reasons. The live performance took place in February 2011 during LIFT: A Worship Leader Collective, a large gathering of worship eaders.

10,000 Reasons begins on a strong note with “We Are The Free” which is an upbeat song that declares he fire in our hearts for God and the glory of the Lord. It is followed by the slower “Here For You” with lyrics that shout praises to God. In the second verse, Redman sings, “Let our shout be Your anthem.” This line seems to send a message of us being God's nation and even His army, and it is very exciting to hear sung.

The topic of God's glory is carried on to “Holy”, Redman‟s favorite song on the record, which proclaims Jesus' holiness and power, calling Him “God most holy and God most worthy.” During the

Bible Verse of the Week: Joshua 1:7

"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go." Joshua 1:7
God is very concerned with our inward feelings and thoughts. He desires for us to be of good courage. Doubts and fears may be thought of as little things, but I do not believe that God considers them so little. He desires for us to be of good courage: without anxiety and doubt. He dislikes us to be sad but to rejoice. Christians are courageous when we glorify God by the trials that we endure. Being fearful dishonors God. What kind of example is that to a non-believer? Being downcast will cause Satan to overcome you. We should be joyful in our Savior where there is so much reason to be joyful. Spurgeon said, "Work is light to a man of cheerful spirit; and success waits upon cheerfulness." Those who toil, rejoice, and believe have success. Those who sow in hope shall reap in joy. That is my preposition to
you: be strong and very courageous. ~Jesselyn

Song/Video of the Week: "Just Like You" by Lecrae

One of the favorites off Lecrae's hit album Rehab was the single "Just Like You." The song talks about Lecrae trying to find a father figure whom he can look up to and try to be like. However, when he was younger he looked to the wrong people for role models. Finally, when he became a Christian, God became that father figure for him. This music video for "Just Like You" is tied in with Lecrae and other Reach Record artists's new project Man Up. To find out more about this project, go to the official website: www.manup116.com.

Bible Verse of the Week: John 17:17

"Sanctify them by the truth: Your Word is truth." John 17:17
Santification starts with regeneration. The Holy Spirit fuses into us Christians the principle of becoming a new creation in Jesus. Therefore, we, as Christians, persevere to abound in good works to the glory of our Father in Heaven. The source of that sanctification is the Word of God. It brings the doctrines and principles that we read to appliance in life. The sanctified works bring great pleasure to God. However, we cannot grow in sanctification if we do not read the truth. Holding fast to the truth shall, indeed, make us sanctified by the Holy Spirit. ~Jesselyn
