One of the best-selling artists in Christian music, Kari Jobe releases her sophomore album, Where I Find You, today amidst widespread acclaim. The album quickly rose this morning to No. 1 on the iTunes® overall Albums chart and remains No. 1 on the Christian & Gospel chart amidst 5-star reviews. The recording also sparked the Billboard Top 10 hit single "We Are" that has been viewed nearly 500,000 times at Tens of thousands more have experienced Jobe singing "We Are" and other new favorites live in concert during the record-breaking Winter Jam 2012 Tour, whose opening weekend alone was seen by more than 32,000 people.

Jobe, a two-time Dove Award winning, Gateway Church (Southlake, TX) worship leader, continues on the 47-city Winter Jam tour through April 1 while simultaneously featuring songs from Where I Find You during her "A Night Of Worship" sold out event tonight at her church.
"These songs come from such a honest place of praising God for what He's done-and what He's continuing to do in our lives-because of His grace and goodness," Jobe shares. "Ultimately, it's about declaring who He is and enjoying the simplicity of knowing the Lord is near. He's for us, He loves us, and sometimes, we need to just stop, enjoy His presence and take that in."
Produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Chris August), who also produced her breakout self-titled debut, and acclaimed producer Matt Bronleewe (Natalie Imbruglia, Josh Wilson), Where I Find You is an engaging project that stretches Jobe both sonically and thematically. Featured on the cover of this month's Worship Musician magazine, Jobe's music and message is clearly hitting home with listeners as critics applaud:
"All at once moving, strong and wistful, this project is breathtaking. Kari Jobe has only gotten better since her beautiful debut, and every single song on this album is incredible." - CCM Magazine

"Where I Find You delivers beautifully crafted congregational and devotional worship…Kari Jobe is set to capture more hearts, set lists, and listening time with her release, Where I Find You. In a God honoring, prayerful, and passionate release that is equal parts intimacy and exuberant uptempo proclamation, exultation, and adoration, Jobe once again breathes her warm, sweet, pure pop/rock." - Worship Leader

"The two-time Dove Award winner's mostly upbeat project is a glorious expression of God's love." - Charisma

"Where I Find You has been well worth the wait for Kari Jobe fans. Intensely passionate and honest, this has taken Kari's artistry and elevated it to a whole new level…hands down Kari's best work to date…one of the top worship albums of the year." -

"Kari is an exciting young voice in worship…This follow-up is more of her excellent voice singing songs of praise to God…It's refreshing to hear a strong female voice in the sea of guys at the top of the worship charts." - Group Magazine

"In fact, the Dove winner who leads worship at Texas' Gateway Church has clearly settled into her own artistic skin with Where I Find You, which marks her most assertive and engaging effort to date." - Gospel Music Channel

"…this is a natural step forward… her second major label album, Where I Find You, may seal the deal for younger consumers of Praise & Worship music….Jobe brings to work a sense of wonder and trust in her songs' object of spiritual affection." - CBA Retailers + Resources
One of the most respected female worship leaders in the country, Jobe's self-titled debut album released in 2009 and went on to sell well over 250,000 copies, leading to a New Artist of The Year Dove Award nomination. Taking home two Doves from the ceremony, she later joined the roster of Sparrow Records, a division of EMI CMG Label Group, which is distributing her first album on the label, Where I Find You, into worldwide markets. Having studied at Oral Roberts University, Christ For The Nations and Dallas Baptist University, where she finished her psychology and Pastoral Ministries degree, Jobe also partners with the A21 Campaign, an organization dedicated to abolishing human trafficking.

1 Year Anniversary of Justin's Christian Music Spot!

Well, it has been a full year since my first post on this blog! The attention this blog has received has been quite surprising to me. I did not think that I would get all the views and comments that the posts on this site gets. Thank you all so much for the support! It has been very fun for me writing album reviews, keeping you up-to-date on interesting artist news, providing a song/video of the week as well as our most recent feature, the Bible verse of the week (verse and devotional provided by my sister Jesselyn). I cannot wait to see where this site goes in 2012, but I hope to be able to write more reviews and hopefully keep up with the weekly and monthly videos (both which I have been falling behind with recently, which I apologize for). Again, thanks to all of you who have supported the blog as well as encouraged me along the way, and please remember to let your friends know about this site as I would much appreciate it. Without your support, this site would not have lasted this long, so thanks a lot and have a great year! :)

Artist Alert: David Crowder*Band's "Give Us Rest" is No. 1 New Album in the Country

David Crowder*Band's final album Give Us Rest hit No. 1 for all new albums in the country! Here is the official report:

NEWS SOURCE: The M Collective
January 18, 2012

Nashville, Tenn. Jan. 18, 2012… … Give Us Rest (A Requiem Mass in C [The Happiest of All Keys]) sold over 50,000 copies in its first week making it the No. 2 record in the country behind Adele’s 21, and the No. 1 new album on the charts. With a nearly constant No. 1 hold on the iTunes ® Overall Albums chart, Give Us Rest offers David Crowder*Band the highest chart and sales debut of their over decade long career.

“We have been really happy to hear and read the responses to the album,” remarks Crowder. “You make a thing and you hope it will mean something and be useful to someone else and to see such a positive reaction so early, well, we thought we couldn’t be happier about it. But then, when I got a phone call letting me know that we were debuting at number two on Billboard, I think, as far as memory serves, I pointed to the sky, yelled something, then un-ironically, with the purest of heart, totally Tebowed right in the middle of the street I had unknowingly wandered into.”

In what has been hailed an “epic,” “captivating” and “most artistic” final effort from the GRAMMY ® nominees, reviews have applauded the 34 track, double-disc album and full career of David Crowder*Band.

"One of Christian music's least predictable bands closes out a decade-long career. The group's final album, patterned after a Requiem Mass, contains nearly two hours of music. Give Us Rest's 34 tracks encompass raw recordings and elaborately constructed arrangements ranging from U2-like worship songs to pseudo-choral music to bluegrass-y gospel hymns." - USA Today

"Their most artistic project… Complexity, and simplicity. Deliberately arranging sound, emotion, intellect and vision. Doing more than pulling out a set of songs and putting them on a CD. DC*B’s contribution was also their journey. Give Us Rest is their coup de grace. Well done, David Crowder*Band, it’s time to take your rest." - Worship Leader

"It's an honest plea from a man who almost single-handedly redefined modern worship for the 21st century, which certainly was no easy task. But before stepping away from the microphone for good, Crowder showed exactly why he and his bandmates are in need of a rest, by creating an exhaustingly epic, double-disc album…. Give Us Rest sounds exactly as a ‘final album’ should. It is a Mount Everest of worship rock albums, never to be topped. For over a decade, David Crowder created some of the most creatively inspired worship music in the world, and now he deserves his rest." -

"A captivating offering… the band’s crowning achievement in a career of exuberant, cerebral accomplishments… In the end, joy becomes the lasting note of this album, and perhaps the legacy of the career of this gone-too-soon band." -

"From track one to thirty-four it is nothing short of an amazing experience. 5 Stars" -

"an epic blaze of musical glory… a memento of its career" –

Give Us Rest contains nearly two hours of music constructed in the outline of a Requiem Mass. The track listing even reads like a liturgy. It begins with The Entrance (or, the introit), a segment of three songs, then segues into The Plea (or, the kyrie), a section of three more songs, and then The Plight (or, the gradual and the tract), a sequence of six songs, and so on, all the way through The Absolution (or, the libere me and the paridisum), a string of six tracks to close out the album—and their 12-year run.

David Crowder*Band gave their final performance at Passion 2012 in front of over 42,000 college students, live at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta. Just months earlier, the band completed a nearly 100% sold out headlining tour. Announced initially to their fans, David Crowder*Band revealed their final plans in early 2011. Bible Verse of the Week: Psalm 139:23-24

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting." -Psalm 139:23-24
I have used these two verses to start prayers when I feel at a loss for words. I find them tersely honest for every circumstance in my life. The first two lines reflect verse 1 in which David states, "LORD, You have searched me and You have known me." Indeed, God knows all things: all thoughts, all worries, all intentions, all sin. The latter leads to the next line. He knows every bit of sin in our hearts, even the one that we may forget that we have. It ends with the request to have God as a guide to never fall away from the spiritual path. This last line is almost a cleansing prayer to have God remove iniquity and help to turn away from it forever. This verse always gives me such peace that God is in control of my life, and He knows all things before they occur. This reassurance grants me a deep trust and reliance to lean on God for all things. -Jesselyn

Album Review: "Vice Verses" by Switchfoot

Release Date: September 27, 2011
Genre: Rock
Rating: 5/5 Stars

Switchfoot is one of the best known Christian-originated bands of the present day. With the successful release of Hello Hurricane in 2009, there were many high expectations for Vice Verses. For those of you who were hoping for another solid release from Switchfoot, you got your wish!

The album opens with the grunge-rock, electric guitar-driven song  "Afterlife" which talks about making a change right now instead of waiting until later to do so. "And I wonder why/ would I wait till I die to come alive? I'm ready now/ I'm not waiting for the afterlife." The strong rock feel makes this song a great opener to the album! "The Original" again features many electric guitar sounds as

Artist Alert: Skillet Tops Active Rock Charts for 2011

After a very successful year, it is no surprise that Skillet was named in the tops of charts for 2011. These include being named among the top 10 "Active Rock Artists" and No. 3 on the "Active Rock Songs" charts. Here is the official report:

NEWS SOURCE: SkilletJanuary 10, 2012

Nashville, TN, January 10, 2012: Atlantic recording group Skillet wrapped up an extraordinary year by being named among 2011’s biggest mainstream rock acts according to year-end charts published by Billboard and Mediabase.

The two-time Grammy-nominated band were among the highest ranking artists featured in Billboard’s annual “The Year In Music” issue, with their RIAA gold- certified album Awake approaching 900,000 in sales and included among the year’s Top 20 “Rock Albums,” Top 15 “Alternative Albums,” as well as the overall “Top Billboard 200.” The album’s chart-topping single, “Awake and Alive,” came in at No. 3 on the “Active Rock Songs” tally, with Skillet also named among the Top 10 “Active Rock Artists.” The band was also listed in the upper half of the total “Billboard 200 Artists” ranking, having spent 120 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart with only a handful of other acts. In addition, Awake claimed the No. 4 spot in the tally for “Billboard Christian Albums,” while Skillet was came in at No. 3 among “Billboard Christian Artists.” Mediabase, which monitors radio activity in the U.S. and Canada, declared Skillet to be the past year’s eighth “Most Played Artist” at Active Rock outlets nationwide, with “Awake and Alive” coming in as the format’s No. 3 biggest hit.

Awake has proven a true sensation, with digital single sales from the album now exceeding 2.4 million. Produced by Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Flyleaf), the collection reached the No. 1 spot on the iTunes “Top Albums” chart within 24 hours of its August 2009 release, while simultaneously exploding into the No. 2 spot on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 chart. Fueled by three RIAA gold certified and four top 10 Active Rock hits in “Awake and Alive,” “It’s Not Me It’s You,” “Hero,” and “Monster,” Awake was among the top 10 on Billboard’s 2010 “Top Alternative Albums” chart, with Skillet coming in at the year’s No. 7 “Top Alternative Album Artist.” “Hero” has also been used by the NFL in their Sunday Night Football and NFL Weekend Kickoff promos, and a remix of the band’s No. 1 Active Rock hit “Awake & Alive," was featured on the TRANSFORMERS: Dark of the Moon soundtrack.

One of America’s hardest working live acts, Skillet has consistently been ranked among Pollstar’s Concert Pulse “Top 50 Tours.” The band spent much of the past two years on the road, touring alongside Atlantic labelmates Shinedown, as well as headlining their own sold-out “Alive & Awake Tour.” Having recently returned from a major European tour (including dates in Russia, Germany, Finland, Norway and the Ukraine), Skillet is now back on tour in the U.S.

In addition to cumulative album sales in excess of 2 million, Skillet has racked up a wide range of honors throughout their extraordinary career. Frontman John Cooper and producer Brian Howes received two BMI Music Awards for “The Last Night” and “The Older I Get,” both featured on 2006’s Grammy Award-nominated Comatose. That album proved Skillet’s popular breakthrough, achieving RIAA gold certification. Comatose followed the band’s 2003 label debut, Collide, which launched Skillet into the mainstream while also garnering their first Grammy Award nomination.

Newsboys has finally released its official video for the title track of their new album God's Not Dead! The video really goes well along with the song which talks about God still being "alive." As spoken of in the lyrics, the band's motive in the video is start a revolution and let the world know that "God is not dead; He's surely alive!" In my opinion, this is one of newsboys' best music videos to date!

Album Review: "Rehab: Deluxe Edition" by Lecrae

Release Date: September 27, 2011

Genre: Hip Hop
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Last year, I reviewed Lecrae's most successful album Rehab. In January, he followed that record up with its sister package Rehab: The Overdose, which I reviewed as well. Lecrae chose to combine these two albums into one deluxe package which was released almost exactly a year after the first Rehab album 2011. Rehab: Deluxe Edition was sold for the low price of just $9.99 at Target and contains both Rehab and Rehab: The Overdose as well as five extra songs and a DVD. Being a Lecrae fan, I bought a copy of Rehab Deluxe for myself shortly after its release and in my review, I will give you my opinion on it. Before reading the rest of this review, I recommend you read my full album reviews for Rehab and Rehab: The Overdose.

Rehab Deluxe features both full length albums with five extra songs added to the Rehab: The Overdose section of the package. The first song "Hallelujah" was released to iTunes before the album. It has a head-bobbing beat that is sure to be fun seeing Lecrae sing live. "Wish It Wasn't True" is slower, but still has a good tune that fits well into the album. It has a feeling of

Best of 2011-Top 10 Songs

This is part 2 of my Best of 2011 series! A couple days ago, I gave you my Top 10 Albums list; today I will give you my Top 10 Songs of 2011. Again, please comment and let me know what you think of my list and also let me know what songs you would have put on it!

10. Your Love by Brandon Heath-Brandon's Leaving Eden album nearly made it to the Top 10 Albums of 2011, but its top single easily made it to this list. This song was No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart during the week of January 21, 2011, and it spent a full 27 weeks on that chart.

9. Strong Enough by Matthew West-Though this song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart and failed to reach No. 1, I still enjoyed this song more than most of the other singles from this year. It was definitely one of my favorites to hear played on the radio!

8. Remind Me Who I Am by Jason Gray-While his full album did not reach my Top 10 lists, I could not leave Jason Gray out of all my lists. His lead single from A Way To See In The Dark is a great rock song that is highly enjoyable.

7. Slumber by NEEDTOBREATHE-NEEDTOBREATHE have been extremely successful since their album The Outsiders (2009). They won the Group of the Year award two years in a row at the GMA Dove Awards and are currently touring with Taylor Swift for the North American part of the Speak Now World Tour. In my opinion, this new single might be their best yet!

6. Blessings by Laura Story-Laura Story is beginning to make a big name of herself since her release of the single "Blessings" which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, making her one of just a few female Christian artists to do so. Not surprisingly, this song is now being sung in churches all over the country!

5. Save Your Life by Newsboys-The Newsboys have never been known to fail in their music, and this single off their Born Again: Miracles Edition was a big standout in 2011's Christian pop and rock music. The best part of this song was that it was offered as a free download on Newsboys's website!

4. Courageous by Casting Crowns-This song was written for the Courageous film by Sherwood Pictures that was also released in 2011. The song was a big hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, and is also featured on Casting Crowns's latest album Come To The Well.

3. Listen to the Sound by Building 429-Though the Listen To The Sound album was not quite successful as I thought it should be, the title track and lead single peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Christian Songs chart. It was also played frequently on Christian radio and is one of my favorites from the band.

2. I Lift My Hands by Chris Tomlin-How can this list be complete without a touch of Chris Tomlin? I Lift My Hands is the third single from Chris Tomlin's latest studio album And If Our God Is For Us... and, as with any Chris Tomlin song, topped Christian radio charts. It is another successful worship song, as we expect from Tomlin.

1. My Hope Is In You by Aaron Shust-Aaron Shust topped my Top 10 Albums list and now tops my Top 10 Songs list! The lyrics, tune, and music video for "My Hope Is In You" are all amazing, and this became my favorite song to hear on the radio in the past year. As expected, it peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Christian Songs chart and should be at or near the top of all 2011 Christian song charts!

So there you have it! 2011 had many highlights in the music industry, and I look forward to what 2012 has to offer us!

Best of 2011-Top 10 Albums

Now that we are in the new year, it is time for me to give you my top 10 lists of 2011! I will be giving you my top ten songs of the year and my top ten albums of the year. First off, here are my top 10 albums of the year-the ten albums that you need to have!."
10. Listen To The Sound by Building 429-This album did not gain as high of ratings as I expected it to, but it is still a great album with a strong package of songs. The single "Listen To The Sound" was one that I could not stop listening to the first couple months after its release, and its more recent single "Where I Belong" further shows why this album is on my list.

9. One Silent Night: An FFH Christmas by FFH-Unless you are new to this site, then you remember the giveaway I held for this album which is now one of my favorite Christmas albums. With very well done covers on classics as well as great new Christmas songs, it should be no surprise why this album made it to the top ten albums.

8. Rehab: The Overdose by Lecrae-Though not as good an album as its predecessor, Rehab: The Overdose remains an amazing album that features some of the best of Christian Hip Hop. Lecrae certainly knows how to continue in successful albums and we should all be looking forward to his next record which he is currently working on.

7. Aftermath by Hillsong United-Seriously, this album should have made a much bigger scene in the music industry. Has Hillsong United ever failed to give us an album full of amazing songs of worship? Answer: No. And this album is no different. If you have not listened to this album, I suggest you make this one of your next buys.

6. The Great Awakening by Leeland-I had the pleasure of reviewing this album for, and I am very glad I did! In short, this album has received a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 54th Grammy Awards. 'Nuff said.

5. 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman-One of the most famous figures in modern worship, Matt Redman released this powerful live record in the summer of this year. The album proved to have few faults, becoming the first album by a British artist to hit No. 1 on the Christian Albums list on

4. My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go by FM Static-The side project created by members from Thousand Foot Krutch is almost just as good as TFK itself! This album featured catchy tunes that listeners will love, and I really wish I had reviewed it. If you do not have this album and love TFK's work, then you have to buy this record!

3. The Love In Between by Matt Maher-Alive Again really showed Matt Maher's amazing songwriting and singing talents. This year's record confirmed those talents and featured maybe even better songs! The Love In Between is certainly a must-have album for CCM fans.
2. On Fire by Peter Furler-Peter album was a much anticipated release following his leave from the Newsboys. This record featured similar sounds as when he was with the Newsboys along with a dance/techno feel. It would not surprise me if this album garners Peter a Dove Award nomination, because he certainly deserves it!
1. This Is What We Believe by Aaron Shust-Wow, this album was totally amazing and tops all other albums of the year! This features Aaron Shust's hit single "My Hope Is In You" which topped the charts on so many Christian radio stations and certainly should have charted higher on the Billboard charts. Your collection of Christian albums from 2011 is not complete without Aaron Shust's latest record!

And there you have it! Comment and let me know what you think of my list and what albums you would have up there! I will be posting my Top 10 Songs of 2011 very soon!
