Artist Alert: 2012 Billboard Music Awards

The nominees of the 2012 Billboard Music Awards have been announced, and as always, there are three categories in the Christian music section. The event itself will take place on May 20 at 8 pm EST and will be shown on ABC. For more information, go to their official website. Here is the list of nominees in those categories as well as my picks for the winners.

Top Christian Artist: Casting Crowns
MercyMe
Skillet
Laura Story
Chris Tomlin
(My Pick: Skillet - They haven't released a full album since 2009, but this band has been on fire ever since the release of their album Awake which stayed on the Billboard 200 longer than any other Christian album. And seeing Skillet live is one of the best shows you will ever attend!)

Top Christian Album: Casting Crowns "Come To The Well"
Casting Crowns "Until The Whole World Hears"
Skillet "Awake"
Laura Story "Blessings"
Various Artists "Wow Hits 2012"
(My Pick: Laura Story "Blessings" - Skillet's Awake was released three years ago. Despite it continuing to excel in sales, I think this album has already had its chance and its number of awards. This one goes to Laura Story.)

Top Christian Song:
Casting Crowns "Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)"
Jamie Grace Feat. TobyMac "Hold Me"
Mandisa "Stronger"
Laura Story "Blessings"
Matthew West "Strong Enough"
(My Pick: Laura Story "Blessings" - No surprise for this pick. Laura won Song of the Year at this year's Dove Awards, and this song made it to the top of Christian music charts everywhere. Any other artist winning this award would be stealing!)

I agree with you all the way. Laura Story deserves Song of the Year award and Skillet should be top Christian artist.
